What we look at in a hotel
Guest rooms and public areas are two different problems in one building. Bedrooms need individual control, very low noise at night and sensible defaults so guests do not leave systems running at extremes; lobbies, restaurants and function rooms swing with occupancy and often need fresh air and their own plant. We design them separately and then look at what can sensibly be shared.
Occupancy makes part-load efficiency the number that matters. A hotel is rarely full and rarely empty, so equipment that is efficient only at full output wastes money most nights. Heat recovery between rooms and public areas is often where the real savings sit, particularly in shoulder seasons when one side of the building needs heating while the other needs cooling.
Installation has to work around a live business. Phasing by floor or wing, protecting finishes, keeping corridors usable and scheduling noisy work away from guest hours all belong in the programme, not in a surprise conversation later. Back-of-house — kitchens, laundry, comms rooms — is checked separately because those loads behave nothing like a bedroom.
